SiS771 northbridge chipset is designed for AMD platforms, including the AMD Athlon™ 64, the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 dual-core CPUs, and even the most high-end AMD Athlon™ 64 FX dual-core CPUs. The data transfer rate between the CPU and the northbridge chipset is able to reach 2000MT/s through the HyperTransport™ Technology. Also, by supporting the AMD Socket AM2 CPUs, the SiS771 platform supports Dual-Channel DDR2 memory. With the embedded SiS Mirage™ 3 graphics engine , which hardware supports DirectX 9.0, pairing with WDDM driver, the SiS771 enables to support Microsoft Vista OS, provide Vista Aero Look interface and deliver excellent visual effects including Desktop Composition, Transparency Effect, 3D Flip Windows and 3D Animation. Such great visual effects can be delivered by both the SiS771 desktop PCs chipset and the SiSM771 notebook PCs chipset. In addition, the SiS771 integrates the hardware support to Pixel Shader 2.0, the software support to Vertex Shader 2.0, and a compatible MPEG2 decoder to deliver high-quality image. The Mirage™ 3 graphics engine can hugely reduce jagged edges and ghosting which usually occur with the slower response rates. Also, it is embedded with the Enhancement technology to provide clearer image quality when processing static imaging. With the Dynamic Threshold technology, the motion blur can be extremely improved when processing motion imaging. Furthermore, the Mirage™ 3 graphics engine can process static images and motion images simultaneously. SiS968--Saving more by clever suspend-mode management

The proprietary SiS MuTIOL technology provides 1GB/s bandwidth between the SiS771 northbridge chipset and SiS968 southbridge chipset, which connect to all the peripheral and devices oh the platform. As for the storage function, the SiS771/968 platform can equip with up to two IDE hard-disks and two SATA2 hard-disks at the same time, and support RAID0, 1, and JBOD data security function. The two PCIe x1 ports and six PCIe x16 ports of the SiS771/968 platform allow the user easily install TV-tuner cards, high-end graphics cards, or any other add-on cards. Regarding the networking capability, the SiS771/968 platform provides users the Gigabit Ethernet function with the embedded SiS196 Gigabit PHY. Besides, the SiS968 supports the HD Audio output, 8 USB2.0 ports, and the TPM1.2 technology which can firmly guard the hard-disk data.

To meet the growing expectation of protecting the environment, and ease the worry of energy-shortage, the SiS771/968 platform performs impressive power-saving ability. The SiS771 can accordingly adjust its graphics engine clock when performing 2D or 3D graphics output, so that the whole system can decrease its power-consumption by 40% or more. In addition, all the other peripherals controlled by southbridge chipset, including the controller of PCIe, PCI, SATA, USB2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and HD audio, can be set into the suspend mode when idling.
