Windows Vista™, Microsoft’s next-generation operating system, will be officially launched in next year. SiS671FX Series Northbridge is Designed for Intel Platform and Considered a Hottest Product Line. The SiS671DX is a discrete chipset, and the SiS671FX and the SiS671, on the other hand are integrated chipsets. These chipsets support front side bus up to 1066MHz, 1066MHz and 800MHz respectively. And all of them support DDR2-667 memory up to 2GB. They are compatible with Intel Pentium 4 series, the latest Core 2 Duo processors, and even the newly released Intel Quad-core processors, Kentsfield. With the integrated Mirage™3 graphics engine, the SiS671FX series are able to support next-generation OS, Vista, and perform high quality 3D interface, 3D Animation, Transparency Effect, Desktop Composition, Aero Glass Effect, and etc. With Pixel Shader 2.0 edited in DX9, Mirage™3 graphics engine hugely enhances the visual effects in 3D situation, and gives users a new idea of embedded graphics core. SiS968 Enables Power-Saving and System Efficiency Exist at the Same Time

The SiS968 Southbridge chipset connects the SiS671FX series Northbridge chipset and other peripherals. It adopts SiS proprietary MuTIOL® media I/O technology to provide two-way transmission of 16bit at 533MHz frequency. The bandwidth is up to 1GB/s which enable the interconnection between Northbridge and Southbridge chipsets to be unimpeded and eventually the overall performance of the motherboard would be hugely increased. The SiS968 Southbridge chipset supports 2 IDE ports and 2 SATA ports. The transmission speed is even increased to SATA 3Gb/s. Also, it supports RAID and AHCI to fasten and secure the data storage, and supports Gigabit Ethernet to have advanced internet access. Moreover, it features high-definition audio and 8 USB2.0 ports.



SiS671 and SiS968 Architecture

SiS has two unique technologies of power-saving.
1. The SiS671FX is integrated with the SiS Mirage™ 3 graphics engine with “Smart Dynamic Clock Gating” technology. It can automatically adjust the clock no matter in 2D or 3D condition, resulting in less loading of the system so that it saves around 40% of power-consumption.
2. The SiS968 Southbridge chipset, on the other hand, uses “Advanced Power Management” technology to request all of the idled devices, such as the controllers of PCIe, PCI, SATA, USB2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and High-Definition Audio, to be in idle mode. The result is amazing since it saves up to 50% of power.

SiSM671MX Extends the Potential of NB and Builds up a Perfect Mobile Platform

The SiSM671MX, one of the latest chipsets in the SiS671FX lineup, is specially designed for notebook usage. It adopts 0.11µm process and perfectly matches with the SiS968 Southbridge chipset. Not only does the SiSM671MX chipset efficiently reduce the power-consumption, but it also extends the time of use and easy to be felt the lower temperature of case. It definitely is the best choice for business users. Besides, the embedded Mirage™3 graphics engine is as good as an add-on VGA card. It fully supports the Vista™ OS, and, besides, it is able deliver outstanding 3D image and advanced HDTV playback.
