SiS Introduces Its New Generation 128-bit 3D Graphics Accelerator ~ SiS300

Taipei, Taiwan, January 2, 1999 - Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation (SiS), a leading core logic and graphics supplier, today announces its new generation 2D/3D graphics and video accelerator, the SiS300, and its companion video bridge chip, the SiS301.
Following the highly successful 64-bit 3D graphics accelerator, the SiS6326 which was awarded "National Symbol of Excellence", the SiS300 further enhances the 3D capabilities and brings the 128-bit technology to the mass market.
The SiS300 empowers the mainstream end-users with the leading-edge 3D technologies: (i) tri-linear mip-mapping, significantly enhancing image quality over previous generation bilinear filtering; (ii) multi-texture capabilities, Direct X 6.0 compatible; (iii) all powered by the internal 128-bit 2D and 3D graphics accelerator engines, with the full support for 4/8/16/32 and 64M bytes graphics memory through the 128-bit DRAM interface. The SiS300 is AGP 4X compatible, with high throughput capabilities for true color, multi-texture data transfers to provide end users with unsurpassed 3D reality.
Together with the SiS301, the SiS300 provide a high quality video image with industry!|s latest digital flat panel technologies. The SiS300/SiS301 will be the first industry 3D graphics and video controller that has the LCD transmitter integrated, providing a cost effective high quality interface to the digital flat panel. The combined solution provides end-users with the most complete graphics and video capabilities by integrating the 5-in-1 capabilities (128-bit 2D, 128-bit 3D, hardware DVD, TV-out and AGP) as well as digital flat panel, multi-monitor, and independent dual view capabilities.
The SiS300 is manufactured in 0.25u process technology and packaged in a 365 pin PBGA. SiS301 is packaged in a 100 pin TQFP. The SiS300 will be sampled in February with mass production in April. Pricing for the SiS300 starts at $25.00 in quantities of 10K units.
