SiS Announces Cross-licensing with Intel

Taipei, Taiwan, January 25, 1999 - Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation (SiS), a leading supplier for core logic and graphics products, announces today that it has signed a licensing agreement with Intel whereby Intel grants SiS a patent license to sell certain of its chipset products that are compatible with Intel's P6 Bus microarchitecture. In exchange for this license, SiS grants Intel a license under SiS's patents. In addition, SiS agrees to pay Intel royalties on the products licensed under the agreement. Specific details of the agreement are confidential.
This agreement resolves the intellectual property concerns between the two companies with respect to the licensed chipset,Shing Wong, Senior Vice President from SiS. The end result is to bring the benefit of the technology advancement to the end users. By signing this agreement, we hope to fuel the momentum for further growth in the sub-$1000 PC market.
Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation is the largest fabless semiconductor company in Taiwan and the first publicly listed fabless in the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
