Taipei, Taiwan, Feb. 25, 1999 - Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation (SiS), a leading core logic and graphics supplier, today announces its Super South Bridge chip SiS960. This announcement follows SiS's highly popular north bridge chips with integrated 2D/3D graphics, the SiS530 and SiS620. The SiS960 is a companion chip to SiS530 and SiS620 with expanded features, providing total multimedia and data communication solution for Socket 7 and Pentium II platforms.

The SiS960 offers built-in Ethernet controller and soft modem. It provides 3D audio accelerator with stereo quality, while increasing USB ports from two to five. As Internet access becomes basic requirement and 3D positional audio gains popularity, the SiS960 allows the system or sub-system suppliers these capabilities with minimal effort and cost.

By combining the SiS960 with SiS530 or SiS620, board manufacturers can shorten the time to market by easily upgrading the existing platforms. For channel development, the SiS960 reduces the service effort by integrating the key functions on-chip. This brings the net benefit to the end users with the most competitive cost / performance .
