SiS Announces Its First DDR DRAM-Supporting Single Chip- SiS635 for Intel-Based Processors and SiS735 for AMD-Based Processors

Taipei Taiwan, December 11, 2000- Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading core logic and graphics supplier, today announced its first Double Data Rate (DDR) DRAM-supporting single chip- SiS 635 and SiS 735. The SiS635 supports Intel P!!! CPU processors, while the SiS735 supports AMD Athlon and Duron processors. The SiS635/SiS735 adopt"open architecture", which integrate the South/North Bridge,Multi-threaded I/O Link(high-speed PCI bus), and multi-functional voice/communication technologies. The SiS635/SiS735 target at high- performance PC market. With the introduction of the SiS635/SiS735, SiS provides a comprehensive product portfolio for the chipset market.

"In the 21st century, there will be more participants in the integrated chipset market and generate significant growth of the market. SiS has clear advantage in the integration technology with track records covering four generations of integrated products. In light of the new market landscape, one of SiS' strategies is to expand its market share by providing open-architecture integrated solutions with companion graphics chip to allow the customers better choice. SiS will continue its focus on product innovation, supported by cost competitiveness from its own advanced fab, to take on future market challenges and opportunities" Said Samuel Liu, President and CEO of SiS.

SiS635 / SiS735
Designed upon open architecture, SiS635/SiS735 does not integrate graphics function. It worths noting that SiS635/SiS735 provide a SiS-proprietary --Multi-threaded I/O Link, which allows the communication bandwidth between the North/South Bridge and PCI bus up to 1.2 GB per second, ten times of that for traditional PCI bus (133MB). The Multi-threaded I/O Link dramatically enhances the transmission rate among peripherals. The SiS635/SiS735 deliver optimum system performance with the support of DDR 266¡BDDR 200 and PC133 SDRAM. In addition, they come with advanced features such as AGP4x interface, Fast Write, 3D audio, high-speed data transmission, including 56K Modem, 10/100 Fast Ethernet, 1M/10M Home PNA, and IDE ATA100/66/33.

SiS635/735 key Features :

  • Single chip with 677 balls BGA package
  • SiS635 supports Intel Celeron, Pentium III and Intel P!!! CPU processors; SiS735 supports AMD Athlon and Duron processors
  • Up to 3 DIMMs of DDR266, DDR200, and PC133 SDRAM
