SiS showcases its new chips: the SiS635, SiS735, and SiS315 at Computex Taipei 2001
|
Taipei, June 4, 2001 ---Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading core logic and graphics chip supplier, presented two innovative single chips, the SiS635 and SiS735, that support DDR DRAM memory technology, and a 128-bit graphic chip, the SiS315, at Computex Taipei 2001. With the state-of-art combination of SiS735 and SiS315, SiS has arranged a PC game competition to allow participation by audience that will demonstrate the excellent performance of these two chips. "The purpose of replacing SDRAM with DDR DRAM technology is to enhance the entire system performance through Double Data Rate. By means of SiS' exclusive MuTIOL®(Multi-threaded I/O Link), our products provide a transmission bandwidth that is 5 to 10 times faster than that of our competitors'. In addition, with the future add-ons of peripheral devices, the speed effect will magnify so that the objective of enhancing the entire system performance with DDR DRAM technology becomes significant", indicated by Ken Huang, Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing. Operated on their own, SiS635 and SiS735 are capable of supporting up to DDR300 in system memory. When combined with SiS' exclusive MuTIOL® I/O link, these two single chips are able to provide a transmission rate for the internal and external PCI interface between the north and south bridge of up to 1.2GB per second, a staggering 10 times that of the traditional PCI transmission rate (133MB/s). They also considerably increase the operating speed of the peripheral add-on cards. With such excellent performance, SiS635 and SiS735 have earned approval from most of the motherboard manufacturers. They have also received numerous favorable reviews by the global media and professional publications. In response to the increasing demand, SiS has scheduled the production of these two chips at full speed in its own fab in Hsinchu. In addition to displaying its products at the booth, SiS has set up four PCs installed with SiS735 and SiS315 chips for viewers to play interactive PC games. The eye-catching graphics, the speed, quality, and reliability delivered from these chips have been totally demonstrated through these trials. Beyond that, SiS has formed strong vertical alliances with selected CPU, DDR DRAM, and motherboard manufacturers who have contributed their products to make the exhibition successful. With its innovative and complete new product lines, growing demand of its products, and increasing fab yield, SiS is full of confidence that it will achieve its goal of 30% of the worldwide chipset market share in 2001.
