Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) Licences ARM Core for PC Logic Applications
Taipei Taiwan, August 6, 2001- Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading core logic and graphics supplier, and ARM, the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, today announced that SiS has licensed the ARM7TDMIĀ® microprocessor core for use in its product range of integrated chipsets for PCs.

SiS currently offers core logic products integrating network and 3D graphics for both Intel and AMD processors and will soon offer a system-on-chip (SoC) solution. This agreement will allow SiS to integrate ARMĀ® intellectual property (IP) into future core logic products for PCs. SiS also plans to use the ARM7TDMI core to develop networking and communication products. This agreement with SIS further underlines the importance of the Asian market to ARM and its commitment to build relationships with companies throughout the region .

"This agreement gives us a good opportunity to strengthen and expand our product portfolio by having access to ARM's industry-proven microprocessor core designs," said Shing Wang, senior vice president, SiS. "By incorporating the ARM core design, we demonstrate to our customers not only our commitment to producing the best core logic products possible, but also our dedication to expanding and developing our current product range."

SiS plans to make products based on the ARM7TDMI core available in Q4, 2002.
