~ SIS's Chip Products Meet Market Needs By Delivering Better Graphics Display Technology and Improved System Performance ~ San Jose, Calif., Intel Developer Forum, Sept. 9, 2002--- Taiwan-based Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS, TSE2636), a leading core logic and graphics chip supplier, announced today that its advanced graphic display SiS648 chipset and Xabre graphics chip family, both of which support the industry's latest graphic display technology standard, AGP8X, are gaining significant industry momentum. Addressing increased market demand for better display technology and system performance, motherboard manufacturers such as Asustek, Gigabyte, and ECS will offer the SiS648 chipset built in to their products, while VGA card manufacturers Founder (China), CP and Triplex will feature the Xabre graphics chip incorporated into their products as well. According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), global chip sales reached $11.7 billion in July, an 8 percent increase over the revenue recorded in July 2001. The increase, according to the SIA, can be attributed to the digital consumer market, which is seeing a surge in popularity of video games, digital cameras and DVDs. "It's clear that graphics have become a major concern for consumers when purchasing computers or other digital devices. Our partners also observed such a market trend and therefore have incorporated our AGP8X-compatible SiS648 and Xabre series chip products into their offerings scheduled for mass production," said Samuel S. Liu, president of SiS. "By consistently using outstanding R&D capabilities and our long-held IC (Integrated Circuit) design experience, SiS was able to capitalize on this growing market demand, becoming the first graphics and core logic supplier to deliver a product that supports the most advanced graphics industry standard to date." SiS648 and Xabre Graphics Chips Give Systems a Performance Boost The SiS648 chipset authorized by IntelR PentiumR 4 supports AGP8X technology, allowing its transmission speed to sustain balance between CPU and memory, thereby improving the computer's overall performance, specifically its graphics performance. Supporting the AGP8X standard, SiS648 and Xabre graphics chips together not only can increase system performance, but can also save consumers' technology investment budget. Because AGP8X is forward compatible, consumers can enjoy newly released and next-generation applications on their IntelR PentiumR 4 desktop computers, significantly extending the lifecycle of their computer. Xabre400 currently is the only graphic chip on the market to date that supports AGP8X and Direct X8.1. Additionally, the Xabre series of graphics chips also enjoys several built-in graphics and color processing technologies that are unique to SiS, such as the Pixilizerâ„¢ Engine and Coloredeemerâ„¢ Technology. These features are primarily responsible for helping produce realistic graphics, sharper images and higher quality colors. Working with chipsets that support AGP8X, such as the SiS 648, Xabre's 2.1 GHz bandwidth can accommodate the heavy workload of the latest 3D games, allowing users to immerse themselves in high-quality, highly realistic images and video. |
