Four SiS PCI Express chipsets SiS656, SiS649, SiS756 and SiS965 - pass PCI-SIG compatibility test

Taipei, Taiwan, November 16, 2004 – Leading core logic chipset manufacturer Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) announced today that four of its chipsets support PCI Express-specifications - SiS656, SiS649, SiS756 and SiS965 – have been certified by the global PCI standards institution PCI-SIG, and will be listed on the PCI-SIG website. The compatibility signifies that these new SiS chipsets meets PCI Express, a leading-edge standard specifically created for the next generation PC platform.

The primary mission of the PCI-SIG organization is to develop and manage standards for PCI bus interface technologies. PCI-SIG continuously strives for innovation and development of technologies based on the PCI bus interface to meet industry needs. Obtaining PCI-SIG compliance logo requires passing a comprehensive regimen of quality tests to ensure that products meet the strict standards for PCIe compatibility. Certifications include: Components, PC-AT Compatible BIOS Firmware, Add-in Cards and PC-AT Compatible Motherboard/Systems. Highly regarded in the industry, PCI-SIG certification is sought after by virtually all hardware manufacturers.

Two SiS chipsets, SiS656 and SiS649, for the Intel® Pentium® 4 platform, and the SiS756, for the AMD Athlon™ 64 FX platform, and multimedia southbridge SiS965 have been awarded PCI-SIG PCI Express compatibility certification under the "Components" certification category. These three certification standards are: PCI Express signal quality, PCI Express BIOS tests and PCI Express device compatibility tests. With earning such a recognition from a global technology standards institution, SiS shows its continuously commitment to high quality, innovation and cutting-edge technologies.

"SiS has always focused on producing outstanding products with stable quality and innovative technologies. The award of PCI-SIG certification for the SiS656, SiS649, SiS756 and SiS965 PCIe-specification chipsets not only shows our commitment to technology development, but also our outstanding achievements and extensive experience in chipset development."Daniel Chen, President and CEO of SiS, said, "This recognition will motivate SiS to continue with its hard work, as we strive to meet the challenges of the future and become the world's leading chip design company."

These four PCI Express-certified chipsets for the Intel® Pentium® 4 and AMD Athlon™ 64 have been ready for mass production.
