Taipei, June 21st, 2005 – SiS is pleased to announce that six new SiS PCIe chipsets – the SiS656FX, SiS649FX, SiS761GX, SiS966, SiS966L, and SiS965L -- have been certified by the global PCI Express standards organization PCI-SIG. This marks the second time SiS chipsets have been certified by PCI-SIG, signifying that the company's chipset design technologies continue to reach world-class standards. With ten SiS chipsets now listed on PCI-SIG's website for their outstanding performance, SiS is clearly keeping up with top manufacturers, such as Intel, while retaining its top position among chip manufacturers in Taiwan. SiS clearly stands out among chipset design companies, all of which are devoting their efforts to new-generation PCIe chips. SiS first received PCI-SIG certification in Oct. 2004 for its SiS656, SiS649, SiS756 and SiS965 chipsets, and was Taiwan's first chipset design company to have received PCI-SIG certification. SiS' six newly certified chipsets once again demonstrate the tireless, innovative spirit and highly competent skills of SiS R&D team. SiS CEO Daniel Chen said, "PCI Express has already become a new trend in the development of peripheral interface specifications. SiS saw this opportunity early on and we have developed our products in consideration of this trend – as a result, SiS's Northbridge and Southbridge chips have gained wide acceptance in both the AMD64 and the Intel® Pentium® 4 platforms. SiS's excellent performance in PCI-SIG's strict testing shows that our many years of success in chipset design are paying off; and our product quality is indisputable." With PCI-SIG's renown as the developer of all PCI interface standards, SiS received many orders from major manufacturers in the US, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan shortly after it first earned PCI-SIG certification. Thus SiS products are found in even more motherboards, desktop computers, and notebook computers on the market today. The newly PCI-SIG certified SiS chipsets are already being favored by major motherboard manufacturers, which have all started to place their orders. |
