|
Taipei, April 26th, 2006—Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) today joyously disclosed the accomplishment of its outstanding SiS756 and SiS656 chipsets being successfully adopted by several board makers. Motherboards equipped with SiS’ chipsets not only highly evaluated by customers but also received many awards from worldwide media testing. “Breaking down the PF88 Extreme's attributes into manageable sections, the default configuration, sans SIMA card, provides for a competent SiS chipset-powered PCI-Express (single card) Intel LGA775-based system. All the features one would expect are thrown in, including 4 DDR2 DIMM slots, on-chip SATA, discrete SATA2, FireWire 1394a, 8-channel sound (non-HD, sadly), Gigabit LAN, and a bundle that reflects the board's deluxe nature.” mentioned professional editor of Hexus after he reviewed ECS PF88. This motherboard is based on SiS656/965 chipset designed for Intel LGA775 processor featuring being able to flexibly switch to AMD platform simply plug in SIMA card which is also equipped with SiS756/965 chipset. SiS756 chipset not only catches the spotlight by being adopted by customers but also receives appreciation on its own from media’s point of view. “Overall, the chipset offers good performance and stability is there. It just needs some time to sort out who their target buyers are. Price is a big factor for SI while channel die hard SiS customers who loves to fiddle with mainboards will be willing to pay a little more for a better overclocking experience.” quoted editor from OCWorkbench.com (Singapore). Advanced SiS756 chipset is designed for AMD Dual-Core processor, and provides supports to AMD Athlon™ 64 FX, Athlon™ 64, Opteron™ ,and Sempron™ CPU. Also, this chipset has been ready for the upcoming AMD Socket AM2. SiS656 chipset, for Intel P4 processor featured with supporting HT technology and FSB up to 1066/MHZ, also provides support to DDR2-667 and Dual DDR400. HyperStreamingTM is SiS’ proprietary technology designed in both SiS756 and SiS656 chipsets to enhance the performance of the data transmission. As for MuTIOL® 1G technology, which is designed to ensure the smoothest data transfer between North and South Bridges and the fastest bus architecture, also equipped in SiS756 and SiS656. So far, end users can easily reach different brands of motherboards in the market which are based on SiS756 and SiS656 chipsets, such as A8S-X by Asus, K8Upgrade-PCIE by Asrock, PF88, SIMA A9S by ECS, and 756K8AA-RS by Foxconn.
