Taipei, May 2nd, 2006--Silicon Integrated System Corp. (SiS) today proudly announced its Southbridge chips, SiS966 and SiS966L, both have passed the USB-IF Compliance Program. This validation enables SiS’ customers and consumers to be more faithful and reliance on the quality of SiS products. It also demonstrates SiS’ insisting on developing new technology has being worthy. USB Implementers Forum, Inc. is a non-profit corporation formed to provide support for the advancement and adoption of Universal Serial Bus technology. The Forum facilitates the development of high-quality compatible USB devices, and promotes the quality of products that have passed compliance testing. Therefore, any testing passed USB-IF test is worth to be aware and publicized. SiS966 and SiS966L are SiS’ new-generation Southbridge chips combined with SiS Northbridge chips providing support to either Intel or AMD platform for desktop PCs and notebook PCs. SiS966 features 2 PCIe x1 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 8 USB 2.0 ports, and 4 SATA ports and 4 PATA devices; SiS966L features 2 PCIe x1 ports, 8 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 SATA ports and 4 PATA devices. So far, both of them have stepped in the phase of mass production. Minor differences in features for these two chips make it more flexible for motherboard makers to decide which one to apply while designing the system with no doubt about the performance, and in the meantime, meet their requirements. *SiS966 Southbridge chip with certified Hi-Speed USB logo
