The SiS196 is a high-speed Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver integrated Analog Front End (AFE) and digital signal transceiver. AFE consists of Automatic Gain Control (AGC) and 125 MHz sampling AD/DA with 8 bit resolutions. Provide physical layer functions to transmit and receive high-speed data over standard category 5 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable.

SiS196 10/100/1G PHY is fully 802.3ab compliant, Support industrial standard Media Independent Interface (MII), Gigabit Media Independent Interface (GMII) and Reduced Gigabit Media Independent Interface (RGMII) to connect a Gigabit-capable MAC.
