DVD playing FAQ
1. Why did my DVD navigator play DVD in software emulation mode only?
  A: There are several possibilities:
(1) The navigator itself is a software decoder only.
(2) It was not switched to a hardware acceleration mode.
(3) It did not recognize your VGA card so could not initiate it.
(4) Your VGA card does not support MPEG-II acceleration.

2. Can you recommend a DVD navigator that is capatible of playing DVD with the benefit of SiS hardware acceleration?
A: The below is a list of DVD navigator vendors. Because each vendor could has several models of navigator program, it is suggested to contact with these companies to ensure that your navigator can support SiS graphic chip or integrated chipsets.
(1) PowerDVD by Cyberlink
(2) WinDVD by Intermedia
(3) SoftDVD by Zoran

3. What's APS and how DVD copy protection - macrovision works?
A: APS is an abbreviation of "Analog Protection System". APS is to control analog copying from digital transmission or digital copies of linear motion pictures. Macrovision has developed the APS technology designed to distort the unauthorized VCR copying made from DVD programs. When the DVD disc is played back, the encoded trigger bit in a disc activates a macrovision-enabled digital analog chip inside SiS6326DVD and then applies copy protection to the analog output of the DVD player. As a result, a recording made by such an analog video cassette recorder from an input signal which includes macrovision-enabled APS signals, will display an image that appears severely dim or distorted.

4. Is there any way to get my DVD played more smoothly?
A: If your DVD-ROM support DMA mode, please enable it. It is able to improve DVD play performance. In addition, a higher speed CPU can definitely gives a better performance.
