BIOS update

1.	Does BIOS update improve 3D game performance or quality?

A: There is no direct relationship between BIOS update and 3D improvement. Sometimes, it is possible to get it improved but it is pretty rare. The most parts of 3D operation are done in driver. Therefore, to update driver is a more direct way.

2.	When do I need to update my VGA BIOS?

A: In general, we do not suggest users to update VGA BIOS without card maker's help. An inappropriate BIOS would cause a card failed. The most often situations that may need BIOS updating are VESA failure, driver compatibility problem (exception occurs)and TV-OUT quality issue.

3.	What's the risk to do BIOS updating?

A: If the applied BIOS can not match the character of your VGA card, you would encounter display problem. Sometimes, it will not boot up your system at all. Therefore, it is suggested to keep one copy of the old BIOS when you plan to do it. In this way, you still have a chance to get back your original situation.

4.	Is there any progarm I can run to update my SiS6326 BIOS without needing a ROM-programmer?

A: SiS6326 does not support on board BIOS programming. So, there is no program to provide this function. However, there is a substitution way. Please visit SiS web-site to download a file named "Tsr.exe". After decompressing it, there is a readme file inside to guide users to do a BIOS updating without using a ROM-programmer. It will let Windows load new BIOS parameters everytime entering Windows.

5.	What's the procedure to update my SiS6326 BIOS?

A: The procedure is listed up below. (1) Download SiS6326 BIOS file (32k) from SiS web-site. (2) Take off the BIOS-ROM from SiS6326 VGA card if it is removable and re-programmable. (Please note that some VGA vendors use one-time programming ROM. You can not re-program it so need to prepare a new ROM for programming.) (3) Use a ROM-programmer to load in SiS6326 BIOS then program it into the BIOS-ROM prepared in step (2). (4) Put the new programmed ROM back to the VGA card.
